"We daydream of beginning the ascent up the mighty peak and are always naive to think that there will be clear skies and bright sunshine to expose the true beauty of the landscape. Sadly, that is not always the case and I found myself “socked in” at the beginning of this multi-day solo trip. But every storm will pass, just make sure you are out there when it does. The mountains will reappear just as fast as they vanished by the white fog that swallowed them. I turned around to look back at Avalanche Lake and this still-watered, clear sky mountain landscape accompanied with a long piece of driftwood lead my eyes toward the rocky cliffs. This view had it all. This photograph was taken in the Adirondacks Mountains in upstate New York in July of 2023." - Weston Homa
